Who are Laroch Foods?
Laroch Foods is owned and operated by Tove Knight from the little village of Clachan, near Tarbert on Kintyre. Laroch Foods has been established for over 20 years and has built up an enviable reputation for quality and personal service which has placed Laroch Foods firmly amongst Scotland’s gourmet food suppliers. The Online Shop enables you to order these delicious speciality foods online for yourself and as gifts for friends and family.
You will find some of the finest quality foods Scotland has to offer, sent direct to you from the West Highlands where the area is sparsely populated, the air is pure and the sea and rivers are sparkling fresh. Our fish is prepared and smoked today as it has been for centuries - in a traditional smokebox over oak - to yield the superb smokey flavour and texture that can only be achieved using time honoured techniques.
How to Serve and How much do I need?
We have given some hints on how to serve in the individual product descriptions - please see the Online Shop. An information sheet is dispatched with each order, giving guidance on storage and serving suggestions. We are also in the process of developing a selection of recipes with some novel ideas on preparation and serving of our products.
The number of servings you get from a pack will depend on what you serve with the food - salads, brown bread, fruit and eggs all go really well with the smoked fish and meats. Check out the Categories and Products in the Online Shop for more specific ideas.
1.35kg side will serve 18 - 24 as a starter and 8-12 as a main course
650-750g (1½ - 1 ¾ lb) side will do a starter for 10 -14 & lunch/supper for 5 - 6
450g (1 lb) pack will serve 8 to 10 as a starter, 4-5 as a main course
200g (7 oz) pack will serve 4 - 5 as a starter or 2 as a main meal
The 100g - 112g (¼lb) packs of meat or fish serves 2 as a starter each.
The 200g packs of Roast Smoked Salmon have 3 to 5 slices as the slices are considerably thicker than the Smoked Salmon. However, these can easily be divided to provide a starter for four or five.
How is my order delivered?
The order is sent as First Class Mail or Special Delivery. We vacuum pack for freshness and an outer box or bag doubly ensures that your order arrives in perfect condition.
What is the difference between a pre-sliced side of Salmon and a pack of sliced Salmon?
- Pre-Sliced Side of Salmon - Sliced, interleaved and reformed in the shape of the original side. Presented on a board and makes a great gift.
- Pack of Sliced Salmon - Sliced and interleaved into a compact, rectangular shaped pack - easy to store in the fridge or freezer. The large 1kg pack is on a board and takes up more room when stored.
